Japan Cup 2010
Tokyo Racecourse - Sunday November, 28, 2010.

Joy turned to sadness for French jockey Christophe Soumillon, when after a jubilant celebration following his Japan Cup 2010 win aboard favorite Buena Vista, he was later disqualified for interference in the stretch and placed 2nd.

It was a roughly run stretch run with multiple horses being looked at by the judges for infractions. After a lengthy inquiry of almost 30 minutes the crowd at Tokyo Racecourse was stunned when the winner was disqualified and placed 2nd for bumping the runner - up several times.

It was determined that the winner had bothered the runner - up Rose Kingdom several times in the running taking away ground of the 3yo colt. Rose Kingdom was making ground on the winner at the wire and therefore was eventually place 1st. This result gave Japanese jockey Y. Take yet another win in the famous horse race.

The owners of the 1st 2 finishers are the Sunday Racing Co. Ltd., so in an odd twist of fate. They were still able to capture the quinella. 3yo's performed extremely well in this years running of the race. As the winner Rose Kingdom is a 3yo colt and the 3rd place finisher Victoire Pisa is also a 3yo colt.

The winning runner Rose Kingdom went off at odds of 8.8 for the win. The time for the 2,400m was run in 2:25.2. By Kerry Zangara
